Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi installs charging stations at Abu Dhabi Golf Club

Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi, Ali & Sons Co. LLC is taking pioneering steps in the UAE with a new sponsorship of Abu Dhabi Golf Club, which will see state-of-the-art electric charging stations permanently installed in the clubhouse car park. Announced at a launch ceremony, the initiative will also see the Cayenne S E-Hybrid become the model of choice for club members being chauffeured to the course. Furthermore, the venue will play host to Porsche’s Abu Dhabi Golf Cup, set to take place in February 2017.

Providing access to environmentally conscious golfers, the new E-Hybrid charging units will be installed in-line with Porsche’s global commitment to electric mobility and reducing emissions, by producing efficient models that deliver unrivalled sports car performance. The brand’s advancements in alternative fuel technology – known at Porsche as E-Performance – represent some of the most exciting in the automotive industry today. This has been demonstrated with the launch of the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the world’s first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment.

Discussing the new charging stations and the new sponsorship agreement, Darren Abel, Brand Manager of Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi – Ali & Sons Co. stated: “We are thrilled to work in partnership with Abu Dhabi Golf Club towards creating awareness about the latest eco-friendly developments whilst entering into a sport many of our customers enjoy. Porsche enthusiasts can look forward to competing in the Porsche Golf Cup Qualifier where five finalists will earn the place to represent Abu Dhabi at the Porsche Golf Cup World final played in Mallorca next year.”

Initially debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2014, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid is a model that showcases an equal balance of performance, comfort and efficiency. Delivering a combined total 416 hp output from the charged three-litre V6 engine and electric motor, the SUV produces 590 Nm of torque. This all results in a 0 to 100 km/h time of in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 243 km/h. The electric top speed is 125 km/h.

Its high-voltage lithium-ion drive battery enables charging either via the mains supply, such as the new units at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, or whilst driving, delivering a pure electric driving distance of up to 36 kilometres depending on driving style and topography. This enables average everyday journeys to be made without consuming any fuel or producing any local emissions.

The introduction of new E-Hybrid charging stations in Abu Dhabi reflects a fundamental part of Porsche’s drive to make electric mobility more accessible, by developing state-of-the art technological solutions as well as segment-leading models.
